A little about Joe.

I’m Joe Michaels, owner of Joseph Michaels Studio, LLC.   I decided to open my own studio suite during the Covid-19 pandemic, not only to grow as an artist and brand, but also to offer my clients a safe, comfortable and stress free environment in a time of uncertainty.   You can rest assured that my suite offers nothing but the highest level of sanitation practices available to salons.

     I was born and raised right here in the Wyoming Valley back in the big hair days of 1982.  I’ve always enjoyed playing with hair but never knew it would be my passion until I went off to college for music eduction at Mansfield University.    I only spent a year there as I spent most of my time coloring and cutting the hair of roommates and friends that I made more than going to class!  THAT, my new friends,  is when I realized what I wanted to do with my life.  

I’ve spent the last 20+ years in this field dedicating my life to changing how people look and feel about themselves.  I’ve worked in many different environments from managing corporate walk-in salons, to working in a small private salon with only two or three employees.  I’ve loved all my salons I’ve worked in and learned SO many valuable lessons in each place, though I finally found my home here in my suite. There’s nothing more rewarding or personal than being one on one with a guest while catering ONLY to their needs with no interruptions and distractions from outside sources.  I am constantly educating myself and my guests on new techniques, whether it’s color, cutting or styling, including suggesting the correct products to use for at home maintenance.  I do my absolute best to make sure my guests are comfortable styling their hair themselves at home and make it as easy as possible for them while still giving them the look they desire.   I can’t wait to have you join me on your own personal hair journey and achieve the look you’ve always dreamed about but haven’t been able to reach yet.    

When I’m not at work, I can be found at home spending time with my husband, Mike and our 4 amazing cats. Each of them have all been rescued as kittens from a life on the streets. You’ll see portraits of them proudly displayed on my wall in my suite.    I have a sweet spot for helping ALL animals in need and will always find time to volunteer, foster and donate to various local rescues to help ease the struggles of homeless or injured animals.
